Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Verdius Energy ("we," "us") collects through this website, www.verdius.energy, how we use it, and the choices you have. We're an energy consulting firm based in Atlanta, Georgia.

Information you give us

• "Check your building" form. Your name, email address, and building address. We use them to tell you whether your building is covered by a local energy ordinance and to follow up about your request.
• Request a Proposal form. Your name, company or organization, email, phone (optional), role, and details about your building and the services you need. We use them to prepare and send your proposal and to follow up about it.
• Email and phone. If you contact us directly, we keep your message and contact details to respond and, if you become a client, to provide our services.

Information collected automatically

• Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site: pages viewed, how you arrived, approximate location (city level), and device and browser type. Google Analytics uses cookies. We use this only in aggregate, to improve the site and see which pages lead to inquiries.
• LinkedIn Insight Tag. This tag, from LinkedIn, uses cookies to help us measure the results of our LinkedIn advertising and may allow LinkedIn to show you our ads. LinkedIn provides us with aggregate reports, not your identity.
• Hosting and forms. The site is hosted by Netlify, which processes your IP address and basic request information (such as browser type and the page requested) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Netlify also receives and stores the forms you submit and delivers them to us.
• Fonts and video. The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address. Some blog posts embed YouTube videos in privacy-enhanced mode, which doesn't set YouTube cookies unless you play the video.

How we use information

We use the information above to respond to your requests, prepare proposals, provide and improve our services, and understand how the site is performing. We may email you about your inquiry or project. We don't send marketing newsletters unless you've asked for them, and you can ask us to stop contacting you at any time.

Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent your personal information. We share it only:

• with the service providers named in this policy (Netlify, Google, and LinkedIn), to the extent needed to run the site and our business;
• when required by law, or to protect our rights or the safety of others; and
• with a buyer or successor if our business is sold or merged, under the terms of this policy.

Cookies and your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on, and manage LinkedIn advertising in your LinkedIn ad settings.

How long we keep it

We keep inquiry information as long as needed to respond and follow up, and client records as long as needed for our work and for legal, tax, and professional record-keeping obligations. Analytics data is kept according to the providers' standard retention settings.

Your requests

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to any records we're required to keep. Email us at the address below and we'll respond within a reasonable time.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and we limit access to the information we collect. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children

This site is intended for building owners, managers, and other professionals. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the effective date above.
